Public Equities

David Tiley leads the team of investment professionals responsible for the multi-billion-dollar Public Equities portfolio. The team combines internally and externally managed strategies across domestic, global, emerging markets, and absolute return to help meet clients’ objectives.

Mr. Tiley has more than 25 years of experience in investment management and global equities. He joined AIMCo in 2013, and was most recently leading the Fundamental Equities team before being appointed Global Head of Public Equities in 2026. Prior to AIMCo, Mr. Tiley was Head of International Investments for a global fundamental value investment team at one of Canada’s largest institutional asset managers.

He holds an MSc in Accounting from Western International University, a BA (Honours) and MA in Political Economy from Carleton University, and a BA in Asian & International Studies from Griffith University, in Brisbane, Australia. He also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D, Accredited Director (Acc.Dir.) and Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designations. Mr. Tiley co-chairs the Granting Committee for the AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education.

Carrie Freeborough joined AIMCo in 2024 to Head the new Centralized, Cross Asset Trading Desk including Equity, Fixed Income, FX and all derivatives related products.

Ms. Freeborough has over 25 years of global trading experience and has worked on both sides of the street, spending most of her career at global bulge bracket brokers before moving to the Asset Management side of the business ten years ago.

Ms. Freeborough has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario and sits on the board of The Toronto Grace Hospital.

Brandon Gill New leads the External Partnerships team, overseeing the investment professionals responsible for investing in externally managed beta-one public equity and absolute return investments.

Prior to joining AIMCo, Ms. Gill New spent five years at OPTrust, most recently as the Managing Director & Head, Multi-Strategy Investments and Digital Assets. Previously, she was a Director at BMO Capital Partners, a proprietary private debt and equity fund at Bank of Montreal. She also spent a decade at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, serving as a Portfolio Manager in the Alternative Investments Division and as an Assistant Portfolio manager for the Public Equities team.

Ms. Gill New holds an MBA from London Business School and a BA in International Economics from Middlebury College in Vermont. She is also a CFA Charterholder.

Brian Ng is responsible for managing the Alpha Strategies group within Public Equities, leading a team of investment professionals focused on delivering positive absolute risk-adjusted returns with lower volatility than equity markets through investing across a variety of global market neutral and relative value investment strategies, on behalf of our clients.

Mr. Ng joined AIMCo in 2011 and holds an LLM from York University, BCom from the University of Saskatchewan, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Dietmar Sollbach leads a team of investment professionals responsible for the portfolio management of AIMCo’s Public Equities portfolios.

Since joining AIMCo in 1997, Mr. Sollbach has advanced through progressively more senior positions in Public Equities including roles within the External Managers team and the Indexes group.

Mr. Sollbach has a BA with honours and an MA in economics from the University of Alberta. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) as well as a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
